La pensée

A painting and a poem for Sunday.

LaPensee2

Flower in the crannied wall,
I pluck you out of the crannies;—
Hold you here, root and all, in my hand,
Little flower—but if I could understand
What you are, root and all, and all in all,
I should know what God and man is.

—Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Night

From my series of doorway/window paintings. More on those later, I hope.

Really, this poem properly belongs to Valentines Day…

Night

Wild Nights

Wild nights! Wild nights!
Were I with thee,
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile the winds
To a heart in port,
Done with the compass,
Done with the chart.

Rowing in Eden!
Ah! the sea!
Might I but moor
To-night in thee!

Emily Dickinson
