A painting for this season, along with a poem of which my daughter is very fond\u2014perhaps because it concerns a beloved winter treat.<\/p>\n

\"Cocoa&Animals\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Animal crackers and cocoa to drink,
\nThat is the finest of suppers I think;
\nWhen I\u2019m grown up and can have what I please
\nI think I shall always insist upon these.
\nWhat do YOU choose when you\u2019re offered a treat?
\nWhen Mother says, \u201cWhat would you like best to eat?\u201d
\nIs it waffles and syrup, or cinnamon toast?
\nIt\u2019s cocoa and animals that I love most!<\/p>\n

The kitchen\u2019s the cosiest place that I know;
\nThe kettle is singing, the stove is aglow,
\nAnd there in the twilight, how jolly to see
\nThe cocoa and animals waiting for me.<\/p>\n

Daddy and Mother dine later in state,
\nWith Mary to cook for them, Susan to wait;
\nBut they don\u2019t have nearly as much fun as I
\nWho eat in the kitchen with Nurse standing by;
\nAnd Daddy once said, he would like to be me
\nHaving cocoa and animals once more for tea.<\/p>\n
